We Are His Workmanship
In this psalm, David compares himself to a servant of His master, as a maid to her mistress. A servant must know what their master would have them do. What work should I do today to please you? We know from Hebrews 11:6 that; “Without faith it is impossible to please Him, for he who comes to God must believe that He is and that He is a rewarder of those who seek Him”. God’s second greatest act of Grace, after having taken away our sin, was to give us a work to accomplish in this life. Ehesians 2:10 tells us that; “We are His workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared beforehand so that we would walk in them”. In John 14:12-14 Jesus says; “Truly, truly, I say to you, he who believes (has Faith) in Me, the works that I do, he will do also; and greater works than these he will do; because I go to the Father. “Whatever you ask in My name, that will I do, so that the Father may be glorified in the Son. “If you ask Me anything in My name, I will do it. "
Application:
Today let us lift up our eyes to our master who loved us and ask Him to reveal to us the work that He would have us do today. Let us continue in the study of His Word so that we may know the works He would have us do. Let us listen for the sill, small voice of His Spirit speaking to us saying ‘do this thing now.’
